My grandad had a brother called Freddy. He died young, can’t remember what of. (26/10 Scarlet fever turning to meningitis.) Grandad said his nick name was “Professor” as he was very gifted academically. After reading a few things with Tom tonight, I won’t be surprised if we don’t have a young ‘professor’ on our hands. He reads incredibly well for a boy his age. Ben and Kristian both had a bit of trouble taking to reading, but both are fine now. I’m sure all the reading we did with Kristian has helped Tom. He was always sat the other side of Sam or I, listening and learning 🙂 School are just treating him like every other kid, which is fine, until he gets bored and starts to muck about for them.
He currently has a thing about germs. He sees them everywhere. Having spent half my degree doing microbiology, I’ve assured him that germs are the bad bacteria and fungi. The many millions of other small things living on and in him are just fine. He asked me tonight “Why you need to wear gloves when looking for germs in poo?” Not sure where that line of thought came from. Human waste management was a very interesting part of my course. There are so many ways to treat poo 🙂 I’d like to get an organic toilet, but I doubt I can talk Sam into that one.
