We took the van to the garage this morning. I had a phone call later in the morning with the verdict. The glow plugs are fine, so it’s not that. It is the head gasket. Great. Our engine in under the front seats, so the seats have to come out, some panels have to be removed and it is a tricky job as you have to do it all through the doors. I’m told it will take a few days to do, has to go to some engineers to skim the block or something. I only have a vague idea of what it all means. All I know if we’ll not get change out of many hundreds of pounds. It should come to less than a thousand pounds 🙁 Hopefully hundreds of pounds less, but until they have the head off, we’ll not know if other things need sorting out.
It’s a good job I’m getting some unexpected money in a week or so. It has something to do with the ChoicePoint purchase of i2. It will help out.
