The van went in to have the head gasket checked and once the head was off they found that the head had a crack in it. The engineers sourced a replacement head, but that one failed the pressure tests. They have found a reconditioned head which has passed the tests at source, but they are not sure when it will get to them. The van is parked outside the garage, so I stopped to have a look at it today. The drivers seat is out and the panels under that are removed. Half the engine is missing. It took 5 hours to get the section off which needs the work. All sorts of pipes and belts had to be removed first. They also noted that the prop shaft flanges were worn out, so they are getting replaced too. An expensive week, when we finally get the van back.
Oh well at least all of us are fit and well, which is more than be said for our parents 🙁
