New country visited

I can add Australia to my short list of countries I have visited. On way to England but had a 7 hour wait in Sydney. I have a visitors visa and then tried to leave the airport. I asked security and they said I should ask my airline. I phoned Virgin Atlantic on the airport phone and they asked and said they would send someone. A nice young man arrived and escorted me to immigration. We jumped the queue and had my passport checked, then he took me to the airport exit. He told me which train to catch what I’d have time to see and when to be back. I left like a VIP 🙂

I enjoyed the double decker train to the harbour. It was only 9:30 but it was already hot. Yes I am a wimp. 20+ degrees is hot when you are acclimatized to Wellington. I had an enjoyable walk around the outside of the Opera House and spotted an office with the best view ever. I’ve had some nice sea views while working in Wellington, but this was amazing. (Photo to follow)

I was tempted to take a ferry to Manly and back just for the fun of it. I wish I had. It would have been better than an other hour in the departure area. Maybe next time.

I’m definitely used to Wellington. This airport is massive and the sheer volume of people is now odd to me. Heathrow is going to be a nightmare. Will soon be boarding a plane was 12 hour flight followed by another 12 hour flight. Better than months at sea.

I spoke to a couple who left Wellington this morning. They flew 3 hours to Sydney, so than cross the Pacific from Aus and return to Florida. They have a long day ahead. She asked if she had to take her shoes of when we went through security. So glad I’m now travelling via US. Sorry America but travel via there is too much hassle.

My gate has opened so I will go and board the plane,

Soon to start a big trip

Tomorrow morning I start my trip back to the UK.

I take a trip to Sydney, Australia and from there to Hong Kong and then to London and then to Manchester.

Hope to do a bit of sight seeing in Sydney as I have 6 hours to kill. I have a visa so all should be OK.

Looking forward to seeing the family again. I’ve not seen my brothers in 8 years and my sister even longer.
